Linen: A Naturally Sustainable Fibre

- Linen has a low environmental impact, for example, it requires very little water to grow, so farmers are not required to irrigate or fertilise during this process
- Flax typically does not require large quantities of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides
- Very little is wasted once the plant is harvested. Other parts of the plant can be used for other purposes, such as flax seeds for consumption
- Linen enjoys a long lifespan as it is highly durable
- Linen is one of the most launderable materials and quality linen improves with age, even after it is cleaned repeatedly
- Linen is fully biodegradable

- Washing: Hand wash or use a cold, gentle machine cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, and fabric softeners, as these can damage natural fibers.

- Drying: Do not tumble dry. Air dry by laying the garment flat or hanging it in the shade to prevent shrinkage and fading.

- Ironing: Linen naturally wrinkles, which is part of its charm. If a smoother look is desired, iron on low heat only, preferably while the garment is slightly damp.

- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.

- Sustainability Note: Estilo Emporio recommends washing sparingly, as linen does not require frequent washing.

- For new, brightly colored linen, it is advised to wash separately or with similar colors to manage any initial dye bleeding.
